someone said
* do not feed the homeless
* homeless are lazy bums. if they would just try to work, they wouldn't be homeless
* if we help the homeless, then we are helpting to create more homeless
* more homeless means more crime. do you really want to help people who had committed a crime?
I just saw "Another day in paradise" music video by Phil Collins. In there, we can see very little glimpse of what homeless people live like.
DO YOU REALLY THINK ALL HOMELESS PEOPLE WANT TO LIVE LIKE THAT???
Now I don't deny some homeless are lazy. But there are homeless people who really needs help.
* Some may had a very tough luck.
* Some may be depressed. (btw, if you're not a psychologist or haven't had a clinical depression, then you won't understand. don't bother to pretend that you do 'cause you'll look like a fool).
* Some may made a mistake and now regrets it and waiting for a chance to come back up. (if you've never made a mistake in your life, you may post in reply saying that they don't deserve a second chance. if you say you've never had a second chance, consider this: you have access to internet and able read this blog. You HAD a second chance. Now if you're dead or homeless and hungry on the street, then you can say that you've never had a second chance).
* Some may have other legit reasons that I don't know because I'm not the master of life and I haven't interview all homeless people to know their problems.
A homeless person went into burger king where I was having my lunch today. He sit 3 tables from me. He sit there silently for half an hour. Suddenly, he asked me in desperation if I could "feed him and buy him a combo meal". I said yes, grab my jacket where I put my wallet in, and we both walked to the cashier. He ordered combo #6 large then stepped back away from me so I could pay the cashier. Once I paid, I turned around and saw him just looking down. I walked past him, went back to my seat, and proceeded to finish my lunch. The person never said thank you to me; at least not that I heard of. When I briefly scanned for him, he was sitting on the other corner of the restaurant from me. He eat while just looking away toward the window. Well, I don't blame him! It's very embarassing to ask someone for food!
You may say that he's just ungrateful but I don't think so. If he was, he wouldn't look down the whole time after I paid for the food. If he was ungrateful, he would be nonchalant about it. If he was just taking advantage of me, he would just casually said "thank you bro/dude" to me.
My point: don't be too extreme. Not all homeless are lazy. If you really don't like "those homeless" people, examine yourself. Why? Oh yeah, I'm not going to help you find out because I'm not your psychologist. Find one yourself.
It's almost midnight and my smirnoff is taking effect...
back to paradise
